The Enterprise Support Agency (ESA) Tetovo form part of a country wide distribution of business centres that give SME support and that were established in 1998 by UK and EU ( three ESAs in Tetovo, Gostivar and Ohrid, five Regional Enterprise Support Centres (RESC) in Skopje, Kumanovo, Veles, Strumica, Bitola. ESA Tetovo was originally set up by the UK governments Department for International Development (DFID) but now operates without the benefit of any subsidy or direct financial support. The subsidiary from DFID has stopped in November 2002. Since then ESA Tetovo is self sustainable and is continuing to delivery services for entrepreneurs and SMEs in Tetovo region. The mission of ESA Tetovo is located to assist the establishment and development of small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) to increase the economic prosperity of the region themselves and the Republic of Macedonia. The Agency is committed to meeting the needs of local businesses, and to best practice in customer service, ethical standards and equal opportunities for all. ESA Tetovo has three permanently employed staff and several outside partners. The staffs of the centre has received a large technical assistance and training input over the period 1998-2002 and are highly competent in the delivery of SME Development Services. Also after this period ESA staff has continued in improving their skills and knowledge through implementation of different projects from different institutions or donors related with promotion of entrepreneurships and SMEs. ESA Tetovo is able to design and deliver projects and programs for SMEs to meet the particular needs of clients and donors.
